Sleepy Girl

At the Vass house, we LOVE our weekends!!  Not only because we don't have to go to work (usually...Drew!), but because we get to spend the WHOLE weekend with Bellamy!  We have always loved spending time with just the two of us, but since Bellamy came along and we both have to work full time, we have really come to love and cherish our weekends with her!

Having said that, we also have come to cherish her nap times!  When she sleeps, we can get stuff done...or take a nap ourselves!  This past Saturday morning after she got up and ate, we all played on the floor for a couple of hours.  She's so much fun just to lay there and watch!  Anyway, around 10:30, she started getting a little fussy, which meant two things...feed me and put me to bed!  She was sooooo tired!  As she was eating, she was actually falling asleep, but if you know Bellamy, you KNOW she will not pass on food!  So she ate and as Drew set her up to burp her, this is what I saw...
Poor little thing!  I don't even think she burped...she just passed out!

This is my favorite!

Once She Starts...

There's no stopping her!!

After Bellamy eats, we like to let her digest a little before she stats playing on the floor, that way she's less likely to spit up.  Usually we hold her, but if we have some things that we need to do, we will put her in her bouncer or bumbo to chill for a few minutes.  On Wednesday, it was one of those days!  As we were running around getting those few things done, she starts fussing and trying to push herself out!  I was so scared she was just going to push so hard that she was going to make the bouncer fall over.  So we get her back in her seat and as we're watching her, she does it again!  Only this time...she is leaning forward, rather than backwards!  Next thing we know...she is sitting up straight in her a bouncer!  A first!!  It was too funny!  She just kept right on watching her shows like nothing happened!

Oh how we LOVE this little thing!!

Cousin Time

After our Father's Day celebration at home, we rode up to Tallahassee to spend some time with Mr. Lee.  We were able to visit for a while and then have a yummy dinner.  The only thing I don't like about family gatherings, is that right when it's time for us to eat...BELLAMY IS HUNGRY TOO!!  Which is exactly what happened on this day too!  So we get her fed and put her in her bouncer to let her digest and then we hurry up and eat!

As we are sitting there eating, her little cousins hurry up and finish their plates so they can go play with her!  After a few minutes of playing with her in the bouncer...it's not cutting it!  They want her out on the floor!  So out she comes!
I'm truly grateful that Bellamy has so many people that love her so much!

Happy Father's Day

As I mentioned in my Mother's Day post, Drew and I have always celebrated these two holidays, even when we didn't have a kid.  But now that we do, I understand what all the hype is about!

I'm horrible when it comes to gift giving.  If I buy someone a gift today, I want to give it to them YESTERDAY!  I just hate holding on to it!  Which is exactly what happened with one of Drew's Father's Day gifts!  I found the PERFECT present for him "from Bellamy" and I just couldn't hold on to it any longer!  I bought it shortly after Mother's Day, got it all fixed up and put it back in the box.  I kept trying and trying to give it to him, but he loves to be surprised, so he would never take it!  Finally he wanted me to do something for him and I told him the only way I would is if he would open his present from Bellamy...very clever on my part!!  So he agreed!  And his expression was exactly what I wanted...he LOVED it!
So now let's roll around to the actual Father's Day!  Drew had a High Council Meeting Sunday morning, so we didn't get to open presents...bummer.  After I got Bellamy dressed and ready for church, I decided I would take a couple of pictures of her with her card for Daddy (remember, he already got her gift from her!).
She wasn't really feeling this, but we work with what we have!

After church, we all get home and it's time for PRESENTS!!  Since he already had her gift, he decided he would start with Bellamy's card first.  With her help, he was able to open it without a hitch!
Next came my card...cheesy, but at least the gift was good!  Drew has been BEGGING for a deep tissue massage since I've known him, so I finally bit the bullet and got him one!  He was excited beyond words!

After presents, we went outside and I snapped a few pictures of Drew and Bellamy.  She wasn't really feeling this either!  All she wanted was her lunch and to take a nap...can't say that I blame her!
Once we got back inside and cooled off, I got a picture of her "dancing" with Daddy...which got a big smile and loud laugh!
HAPPY FATHER'S DAY, DREW!  WE LOVE YOU SOOOO MUCH!!

Dinnertime!

If you know Bellamy, you KNOW she LOVES to eat!  Used to when she was smaller, after she finished her meal, she would SCREAM!  It would break my heart, but then just remind me...she is a girl after my own heart!

Anyway, when we got home from our run the other day, I decided I wanted to give her some cereal before we bathed her.  So I just left her as she was (in her diaper!), slapped on a bib and we went to town!

Pounding the Pavement

For the past couple of months Drew and I have been walking/running for 3 days a week.  And of course we can't leave Bellamy at home by herself, so she comes along for the ride!  In the past, we have just set her up in her regular stroller, but the other day we dusted off the jogging stroller that Meris gave her and we took it out for a spin!

If you haven't seen B in a while, she's gotten a lot bigger, but she is still very petite!  Once we put her in her new ride, it totally swallowed her up!

She had a little trouble adjusting at first, but once she found something she could chew on, we were good to go!

Somewhere during the workout, B hit her stride (comfort zone!) and fell fast asleep!  When we were ready to load her up and head home, this is what we saw...!

Once we woke her up and got her out, we realized that she is sweating like crazy...nothing new, she gets that from her Daddy!!  So we strip her down to her diaper to cool off...and she LOVED it!!

Guitar vs TV

And the winner is...you decide!!  Bellamy loves her Baby First TV channel and when it's on, it's very hard to get and keep her attention!  The other day Drew got his guitar back out to play for her and now we see that he should've turned the TV off first!  As he would play, she would stare at him and then back to the TV!  After about 5 minutes of this, he just gave in and let the TV win!

Plank?!

Last night after we got home from walking, Drew had to go Home Teaching, so it was just B and I left to play!  As I was getting all her stuff ready for bath/bed, I left her on the floor to play.  I kept running back and forth from the kitchen, to the bedroom, to the bathroom and would talk to her as I went.  As I was leaving the kitchen and walking into the bedroom, I had to stop and do a complete 180!  This is what I saw...
Bellamy was gettin' her plank on!  She has never done this!  So I run grab my camera and sit back to enjoy!  Next thing I know, she's getting up on her knees and beginning to rock a little bit...

I know I say this over and over (and over, and over, and over...you get the picture!), but she is just growing so fast!  It's amazing how one day you try to get her to do something and it seems so foreign to her and then the next day or week, she does it all on her own!  Our baby girl is growing up right before our very eyes and we're totally enjoying the show!!

Happy 6 Month Birthday, Bellamy!

Facebook Status:  "I cannot believe my baby girl is 6 months old today!!  Where oh where has the time gone!!  Used to all she wanted to do was be held and cuddled and now she can't get to the floor fast enough!!  Happy 1/2 birthday B!!"  Never a more accurate statement, as time has literally flown by since she got here!!

Yesterday we celebrated Bellamy's 6 month birthday!  I picked her up after work and when we got home, Drew met me outside, got her, and we all walked in together.  When I opened the door, I saw a little bag with a card for Bellamy sitting on the floor!  I can't believe he thought to do this...usually it's me that comes up with stuff like this and now I'm kicking myself that I didn't think of it!  Oh well, kudos to Drew!  Anyway, we get her out of her car seat and put the bag in front of her!  She immediately honed in on it and started trying to go get it!
Once she got a hold of it, there was no turning back!  We barely had time to get the camera before she started grabbing and ripping at the tissue paper!

I honestly think she enjoyed the bag more than the toys that were in there!  So in essence, we (Drew did put my name on the card!) got her some teethers, a tweety bird noise maker, and some kind of bendy-noise maker toy...and a bag with tissue paper!!

HAPPY 1/2 BIRTHDAY, BABY!!  MOMMY AND DADDY LOVE YOU SOOOOOO MUCH!!

Hmmm...Mom, Dad...

Could you help me please?!?!  It's so funny to watch Bellamy go after things she wants.  If it's not in arms reach, she does some kind of attempt to crawl and if that doesn't work, she just rolls around until she gets it!  Having said that, the other night she was on the floor playing and I was watching her from the couch and Drew was in the kitchen.  I guess she wanted to come see me (at least that's what I'm telling myself!) because she started rolling towards me.  When I looked up, this is what I saw...

...just a little tiny head poking out from behind the coffee table!  She didn't fuss or cry, just looked up at us like, "hello, I can't go any further and I haven't reached what I wanted yet!"  It was too cute!  However, instead of helping her out, we decided it was too cute to pass up on a few more shots!

Big Girl!

Each day as I look at Bellamy, I see new changes!!  It scares me to death how fast she's growing, but it is so amazing to watch her beautiful transformation...from irritating (but oh so sweet!) kicks in the womb to a full fledged human being with an awesome personality!  Right now she is in the midst of tyring to master new skills!  After her playtime on the bed (see below), it was time for bath!  So I got her undressed and tried to sit her up.  In the past when I've done this, she either falls backwards or forwards, but tonight she threw me for a loop...she held her own, and for a good 10-15 seconds!!

Playtime

The other day Drew was watching the FSU baseball game on the big TV, which meant Bellamy wasn't able to watch her Baby First TV channel that she absolutely LOVES!!  She started getting a little irritated with him, so I decided to take her into our room to play on the bed and watch some tube!  Here are just a few shots of her in complete awe of what is going on in the wonderful world of TV!

Sleepy

Sunday mornings are never a good day for us.  Bellamy is on such a schedule that when she gets off, she can easily turn into Ms. Cranky Pants!  For starters, she wakes up later than usual (8:00, instead of 5:00) and then she misses her morning nap because we're at church.  So every Sunday I try to feed her during Sunday School so that she will sleep through Sacrament Meeting...but that hardly ever works, so we just do what we can to keep her quiet!

This past Sunday it actually worked!  Drew fed her as I taught my seminary class and by the time she was done, she could hardly hold her head up to burp!  So he passed her to me and I put her to sleep!  As we moved into Sacrament meeting I was so scared she was going to wake up because of all the noises/talking, but she didn't!  I secretly thought...this is going to be great!  Next we find our seat and the meeting starts...still asleep!  She was starting to get heavy on me the way I was holding her, so Drew suggested I lay her down on the pew, which I did.  (I know that the next thing is sooooo irreverent, but it had to be done!  She just looked too cute laying there!)  So out comes my phone and snap goes the pictures!

Needless to say, this didn't last long!  Once she realized she was no longer in my arms, she started fussing!  Then she went from fussing to laughing, to wide awake in 10 seconds flat!  Typical Bellamy!
